KINO SUKA is an independent donation-based film club started by students and recent graduates of the University of Groningen. We screen movies and leave space for discussion. Curation and selection follows the premise of selecting films that are rarely screened, discussed, or difficult to watch on one’s own. We screen and discuss the movies in an informal setting that is inclusive to everyone, including those without prior knowledge of film or film studies. After three months of activity on the outskirts of Groningen we created a regular community of Kino Suka goers. Later we received an opportunity of moving to the centre of the city and with the help of donations and support we became a non-profit educational foundation associated with the University of Groningen. We maintain the space and equipment on a donation basis.
